EXPERIENCE WITH NEW LEED CERTIFIED CONSTRUCTION AT MILITARY FACILITIES
JAMCO Ventures recognizes the advantages offered by environmental conservation and sustainable building. The LEED certification program provides a roadmap for designing and constructing a building using numerous methods and techniques ranging from the placement of the building on the site to the materials used in the building.
JAMCO Ventures, LLC. was contracted by the Louisville Corps of Engineers, to construct a new Armed Forces Reserve Center (AFRC) on the Naval Air Station Base in Kingsville, TX. The construction consisted of over 50,000 sq. ft. of building space, including a 9,025 sq. ft. Maintenance Shop, an 800 sq. ft. Pre-engineered Wash Rack, a 40,522 sq. ft. Training Building, and a Storage Unit. The building was constructed with bell bottom piers and a suspended slab concrete foundation, structural steel framing, concrete insulated precast panels, a standing seam roof, a modified bitumen roof, and interior metal stud framing.
LEED strategies employed included installation of high-efficiency HVAC systems; low flow fixtures installed to reduce water consumption by 30%; flush-out of the building prior to occupancy to remove all noxious or odorous fumes from the building; use of high recycled content finishes which also earned this project an exemplary performance credit; and use of low VOC materials to guard against occupant exposure.
LEED PROFESSIONALS
Our LEED Accredited Group stays abreast of all the latest technology to ensure that sustainable building projects seeking LEED Certification obtain the highest ratings possible. Our LEED Professionals are involved from the inception of the project, ensuring that LEED credits and prerequisites are earned and documented as required for both the design and construction phases. JAMCO has proven that they can exceed LEED requirements when possible at no additional cost to the Owner, thereby giving the Owner a better value.
This project was only required to achieve Silver status under LEED Version 2.2, but due to JAMCO's expertise and diligence, this project has accrued 40 LEED Credit points which qualifies this project for Gold status.
